Arch & Truss Bridge
For Episode 6 of the series, “Need for Speed/Super Bridges,” Christian and I built a huge bridge to span the gap between two pre-fabricated pillars. In this strength-based challenge, we placed third, with a bridge that held up to 445lbs (201kg) of weight.
Model built over the course of 7 hours.
We chose to make a bridge with two support mechanisms: an arch to support from below, and a railroad-style truss to support from the top.
Final bridge spanned a 6’ (183cm) gap.
We included crews of minifigure construction workers all over the bridge— including little versions of ourselves.
